Abstract

Since 2007,the government of Korea has been taking steps to become a member of the Devebpment Assistance Committee of the OECD. The government has also been increasing the amount of its official development assistance and is planning on raising it further in the next five years. In the face of these changes, it is timely to look into the prospects and challenges of the Korean ODA as a member of the DAG.

This paper aims to help modernize the international cooperation of the government of Korea by reviewing the origins and evolution of advanced countries' ODA to date, highlighting the main trend of the international development cooperation of DAC member states in recent decades, and drawing some lessons and insights from the review.
